Chris Boswell,
For the moment, I am going to forget how much I dislike you for the underhanded things you have done to my brother and the people living on the west side of Harlingen.
I extend my sincere congratulation for the Bass pro Shops announcement and let’s pray that it is successful.
The moment has just expired.
Dial

Bobby Farris and friends and Dial Dunkin have land their land on that TIRZ land why should Dial not be happy him and Bobby and other friends got much richer while the rest of the city applauds the obvious conflict of interest since Bobby was a commissioner the same as Larry when these zones were chosen. Huray ! for the rich guys. Come on EVERYBODY huray for the RICH guys. Who said they were on their way out. They are digging in with George Merrill in the saddle in the event Chris Boswell looses. IT is win win for everybody. Crime does pay. So far Larry has profitted from the TRIZ and now Bobby Farris who was a commissioner when he picked his land is getting ready to bring in the cash.
However looming in the dark is Monterey Mexico who also wants to have the Bass Pro there. They are not in a hurry like Chris and Larry to do a land deal they are not trying to fool voters into what great politicians they are. They are not trying to convince the citizens to vote for them and reward them for the land sales and bank take over and if they strike a better deal then guess who is out? And left holding the bag? That is right the same Harlingen citizens who have paid for Larry’s land and Chris’s Airport sharade.
The airport where anything goes if you are Anglo, Huray huray huray!!!!An airport who can stop blogs in a single drunk.
I think Dial and Chris are friends they are only pretending.
I very rarley come out in the defense of wealthy Anglos but I know Robert Farris and he is a fair man. I do not think he would have anything to do with this kind of deal. Dial well it is my opinion he has so much money he just does not care about anyone buying or selling his land.
This is land that is made for TIF deals. It will produce and it will bring life to an otherwise dead area. There will be quite of bit of infrastructure money because it is a very badly enginered property. The on and off ramps well a nightmare. Anyway this is my opinion. Monterey will be off limits due to the unsetteling drug problems and they will not be over anytime soon.
“I very rarley(sic) come out in the defense of wealthy Anglos ”
Why not Fred?..are you a racist or just jealous of their success?
Dial. spoken like a true gentleman and a scholar, and I just cannot defend Boss Hog in this matter, even though I want him to move the city forward with me, a bucket of chicken!
If Monterey Mexico is trying to lure a Bass Pro Shop you can bet the Fat Cats are going to get rich on the deal. The ricos always get richer in Mexico and the pobre get screwed.
Some of you are speaking up for Dial. Dial has monetary and personal issues at stake in the city races. I believe Dial wants all of his annexed property out of the city. It would appear he is using several people to carry the fight while he contributes some money and an occasional comment. I do not think Dial wants what is best for Harlingen. I think Dial wants what is best for Dial. The westward expansion of Harlingen was planned decades ago and I am reasonably certain Dial knew this. Outwardly it appears to that Dial wants to commercially develop his properties adjacent to the westward growth of the city without being in the city and without paying city taxes. He would get the benefit of increased commercial traffic while not having to contribute to city taxes or comply with city zoning regulations. It is my opinion that some who contribute here are in awe of the ‘Great White Father’ as they figuratively grovel at his feet. What an honor it must be for them to get to visit inside the patron’s casa or have him call them on the phone and do his bidding. I think Fred and others are blind to the concept that they are donkeys carrying the hod for a bricklayer building a wall against the development of Harlingen, I also think those that take his campaign donations are obligating themselves against the best interest of Harlingen. Talk about keeping the city stagnant!
