Updated: Harlingen city election and School board candidates getting started early

In the race for Mayor; three candidates have picked up the application packets and 1 for city commissioner, three candidates for the school board. 

Incumbent Old Guard, Old Clique Red Liner Chris (keep the city stagnant) Boswell who is of running for re-election. 

Activist Joe Rubio has also picked up the application packet. 

Preacher George Merrill was the third candidate for Mayor to pick up his application packet late this morning.

Elaine Flores has picked an application packet for District 2 city commissioner.

Follower Old Guard, Old Clique Red Liner Larry (keep the city stagnant) Galbreath has officially filed for re-election in District 1.

Veteran Fred Rendon, Jr. picked a packet application this morning. Fred will be vying for city commissioner in District 1.

In the school board race:

Verna Young has officially filed for re-election in place 7. 

No one has announced to run against her at this time. 

Greg Powers has officially filed in place 3. 

He is being opposed by Janine Deal who has also picked an application packet. 

The deadline to file is March 8, 2010.
