The Harlingen South Speech Drama Debate Team Received 2nd Place in Nation Wide Competition

Harlingen South Speech Drama Debate Team Traveled to University of Texas at Austin and competed at the Longhorn Classic recently. The team represented Harlingen South High school well with outstanding performances in the following areas:

Duet Acting

Jasmine Brady & Amber Gracia placed 6th

Poetry

Hillary Cortez placed 6th

Impromptu

Kara Tapangan placed 1st

United States Extemporaneous Speaking

Kara Tapangan placed 2nd

Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking

Kara Tapangan placed 1st

Duo Interpretation

Hillary Cortez& John Reynolds placed 1st

Dramatic Interpretation

Hillary Cortez placed 3rd

John  Groves placed 6th 

Humorous Interpretation

Hillary Cortez placed 7th

Novice Cross Examination

Luana Charies & Larissa Lopez placed 4th 

Individual Sweepstakes: These are the students that received the highest number of points out of 250 competitors

Harlingen South Speech Drama Debate Team competed against 82 schools from around the country and routinely place high in regional, state, and national competitions.
