Now that you have installed a new board of directors, I challenge you to do a better job for next year.
The chamber has 850 + – members, including 723-85% Hispanic members.
The chamber as a 13 member board of directors, including only 2 Hispanic board members.
Both, the chamber board of directors and its Hispanic membership have to do a better job of recruiting more Hispanic members into its board of directors.
This is not old Africa where the minority whites held a white majority rule for a long time.
Hispanic members do not have equal representation on their board of directors.
This should change and quick.
The board make up should be 11 out 13 Hispanic, instead of the current 2 out of 13.
I challenge the Hispanic members to step forward and claim what rightfully belongs to them.
Stop being treated like second class citizens now.
I congratulate the Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce which has done better with their board of director ratios.
They do need 1-2 more Anglo members for equal representation.
The time for action starts now.

The HACC needs to be replaced starting with the board members. the Hispanic chamber is a joke. Both need new personell and it will be done this comming year.
These are member organizations. You have to join in order to have a voice. The boards are elected by the members. And the boards get to choose who the employees are. Nothing discriminatory about that.
Please. Both organizations are a joke. The Hispanic Chamber has no backbone from the director to the board. They are afraid of their own shadows. The other chamber has some token Mexicans on board. The only reason they need these Hispanics is obvious, they want to hide their subtle racism that still exists in the organization. The puppet masters are still in charge and they will continue to be in charge as long as the Hispanics hide in their serapes.
You finally said somewthing right.
The 85% member Harlingen Area Chamber bof Commerce hispanic members are ruled by the 15% anglo members.
Same thing on their board, it’s made up of of 85% anglos and 15% hispanics.
The hispanics just have to stand up and claim what belongs to them.
It will not happen if they don’t get more involved.
The Harlingen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a nuch younger organization.
They now have nerly 50% membership in numbers compared to the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce.
Their Board of Directors is more in line with with their membership make up.
They will continue to grow and make improvements.
At least they are willing to make improvements, unlike the hard core stand by the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce.
They will not grow and remain stagnant unless they make major changes.
Serapes is spelled sarapes tonto.
