50 vocal music students from across Cameron County will be on the UTB/TSC campus Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. The students have qualified for the All State music competition for Choirs in January.
UTB/TSC Fine Arts faculty will be helping students prepare for the rigorous competition that is involved in earning All State recognition. UTB/TSC current music students who were members of the All State choir while in high school will be on hand to provide anecdotes of their experiences and advice to the students.
Following the sessions, the high school students will get a first look at the new Arts Center on campus.
The new facility features an 808-seat performance hall with a stage able to accommodate 150 people at once. Other building features include a second floor terrace with views of the campus and Matamoros across the Rio Grande, five teaching studios, a first floor lobby-gallery and a green room.
