The holiday season gets a kick start beginning this weekend with a dozen events scheduled through the first of January, popularly known as Jolly Days.
The Lighting of the Island takes place Friday Nov. 27, 6pm at the South Padre Island Visitor Center. Santa will give audience to young and old alike as the City explodes in Christmas color along Padre Boulevard. Public is invited to this free event where refreshments will be served.
Saturday Nov. 28, 10am-3pm The Annual Christmas Mercado takes place on Laguna Blvd. at Louies Backyard. Artists, craftsmen, and local businesses will display their wares in an open market setting.

- Saturday Dec. 5, Port Isabel Lighted Boat Parade, 6:30pm
- Sunday Dec. 5, El Paseo Holiday Concert, Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church, Port Isabel ,2pm
- Tuesday Dec. 8, Wassailing with the Turtles, Sea Turtle Inc. 5-7pm
- Saturday Dec. 12, Breakfast with Santa, Schlitterbahn Waterpark , 9-Noon
- Friday Dec. 11, Island Holiday Parade, (new route) Mars St. to Campeche, 6:30pm
- Sunday Dec. 13, Hair of The Dog Fundraiser, Louies Backyard, Noon-3pm
- Wed. Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve Fireworks, Laguna Madre Bay, midnight
- Friday Jan. 1, New Years Polar Bear Dip, Noon at Boomerang Billy’s Beach
