McAllen, TX— Vicente Gonzalez, a life-long Democrat, on Friday, November 20, 2015, announced his candidacy for Texas’ 15th U.S. Congressional District.  Vicente Gonzalez is seeking to build upon the legacy and achievements of Congressman Rubén Hinojosa. Congressman Hinojosa announced last Friday he would not seek re-election after his current term, opening the seat he has held for the past 19 years.
Vicente Gonzalez, who as an attorney and small business owner, has fought and advocated to give those who have been marginalized a strong voice in court, now seeks to be the fighter and strong voice south Texans need in Congress.
“I am running for Congress to be the fighter our working families deserve,” said Gonzalez. “My education and professional achievements in fighting for homeowners, school districts, consumers and families in their legal and business affairs, along with my experiences as a small business owner, uniquely qualify me for the position of congressman.
Vicente Gonzalez founded the Law Office of V. Gonzalez and Associates, P.C. in 1997. Since then, his primary focus in law has been fighting for victims who have been wronged by major corporations and powerful insurance companies.
“As Congressman, my number one priority will be education because education is the key that opens doors of opportunities for our children and families,” stated Gonzalez. “I also believe healthcare should be treated as a basic human right. Ensuring healthcare is affordable and accessible is critical to the economic security of our working families in south Texas.”
Good paying jobs, compassionate immigration reform, protecting Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security for our elderly, keeping our promise to our veterans, safer communities, and improved infrastructure will also be at the forefront of Gonzalez’s policy objectives.
“I know south Texas’ best days are ahead of us. I look forward to earning the people’s vote and sharing ideas on how to best move South Texas forward together,” said Gonzalez.
Vicente Gonzalez received his Bachelor in Science Degree from the prestigious Embry Riddle Aeronautical University on the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. After graduation, he attended present-day Texas A & M University School of Law in Dallas/Ft. Worth, where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree. 
While in law school, he served as a congressional intern in Washington, D.C., and worked at a large reputable national law firm in Dallas. Post Law School, Gonzalez continued his training in Negotiation at Harvard University School of Law School.
González is a member of the, Texas Bar & New York Bar. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC. 
Gonzalez a lifetime south Texan lives and works in McAllen. His wife Lorena Saenz Gonzalez is a McAllen native and a former teacher and administrator in McAllen and Edinburg.
Leading Vicente Gonzalez’s campaign efforts will be Campaign Manager Josh Reyna. 
Josh Reyna, formerly Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa’s Legislative Director, brings with him extensive campaign experience in South Texas as Campaign Manager for several campaigns including Judge Rose Guerra Reyna’s 2014 re-election campaign, Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa’s 2012 re-election campaign, and Representative J.M. Lozano’s 2010 Democratic Primary Campaign.
Texas’ 15th Congressional District includes Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Brooks, Duval, Live Oak, Karnes, Wilson and Guadalupe counties. An estimated 850,000 residents live in the congressional district.
