A 28 year old woman arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated; A 24 year old woman was arrested and charged for possession of marihuana.
DWI-2ND / POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
MONDAY JULY 16, 2012
On Monday July 16, 2012, at 0319 am, A San Benito Police Officer observed a brown 2005 Chrysler 4 door disregard a red light by the intersection of Sam Houston and Robertson Street.
The Police Officer then pulled the vehicle over by the 200 block of South Dowling Street.
The Police Officer made contact with the driver who was identified as 28 year old Maria Alicia Rodriguez out of San Benito.
The Officer noticed signs of impairment due to possible alcohol consumption on the female driver, and proceeded to conduct a field sobriety.
The Police Officer requested a breath specimen from the female driver but she refused. Maria Alicia Rodriguez was arrested and transported to City Jail, charged with a DWI-refusal.
The charge was later enhanced to a class A misdemeanor due to a previous DWI arrest.
Maria Alicia Rodriguez was arraigned by Municipal Judge Ben Yudesis who set bond at $10,000. Female was transported to the Cameron County Jail.
On Monday July 16, 2012, at 12:29 am, a San Benito Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a Blue Nissan 4 door by the intersection of West Business 77 and FM 510 for a moving violation.
The driver was identified as 24 year old Korina Lugo out of San Benito.
The Police Officer then noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and consent obtained to search the car.
Inside the vehicle’s center console the Officer found a small amount of marijuana less than 2 oz. Korina Lugo was placed under arrest and transported to City Jail charged with Possession of marijuana class B misdemeanor.
Korina Lugo was arraigned by Municipal Judge Ben Yudesis who set bond at $3,000.
Female posted bond and was released.
