ABILENE, Texas— Pascual Del Real delivered an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to lift the Edinburg Roadrunners to a 6-5 victory over the Abilene Prairie Dogs to sweep the doubleheader Tuesday night at Walt Driggers Field. 

In the top of the 10th and the game tied at five, Del Real hit an RBI single that scored pinch-runner Eric Bloom from third giving Edinburg the 6-5 lead. 

Miguel Martinez pitched well but received the no decision after allowing two runs in six innings pitched.  

The Roadrunners (11-9) got the scoring started in the top of the first against Abilene starter Brian Smith.  After two outs and two hits, Derek Perren hit an RBI single that allowed Vincent Blue to score giving Edinburg the early 1-0 lead. 

Abilene (7-12) answered back in the bottom of the first with an RBI single from Nick Ochoa that tied things at one. 

Carlos Hereaud gave the Roadrunners the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the third making it 3-1. 

In the bottom of the third, former Roadrunner Wilson Batista came in to score for Abilene cutting the lead 3-2. 

An RBI fielder’s choice by Stantrel Smith in the top of the fourth and an RBI single by Perren in the top of the fifth pushed the Roadrunners lead to 5-2. 

The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh when the Prairie Dogs rallied to score three runs to tie the game at five. 

With Edinburg leading, James Hoyt pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th giving the Roadrunners the 6-5 victory. 

The Roadrunners have the day off on Wednesday but will continue their road trip as they head to San Angelo for a four-game series with the Colts starting Thursday night at Foster Field.
