On behalf of the International Museum of Art & Science, I invite you to attend the Dedication Ceremony for the Windmill Turbine blade that was graciously donated to IMAS by TXU Energy on June 25, 2010.
One year ago, crowds gathered to watch the arrival of this 112-foot structure.
This single windmill blade is an actual propeller from a wind turbine and is now situated at the front entrance of the museum.
Weighing in at 14,000 pounds, this recycled blade made it’s way across the state of Texas, with one mission in mind: to educate the community about the significance of alternative energy sources.
At your earliest convenience, please RSVP for the Dedication Ceremony, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 7, 2011 beginning at 10:30am sharp.
This ceremony will include special remarks from the following personnel:
City of McAllen Commissioner – pending confirmation
IMAS Executive Director, Joseph Bravo
IMAS Board President Tim Smith
TXU Energy Community Relations Manager, Catalina Madrigal-Rupert.
Food and refreshments will also be served.
Following the Dedication, TXU Energy will present their Beat the Heat program – TXU’s signature summer program that educates consumers about ways to prevent heat-related emergencies and manage their energy consumption.
Free giveaways will be handed out to all attendees, courtesy of TXU Energy.
This event will be filmed by McAllen Cable Network and all RSVP’d guests will receive a special mention during the opening remarks.
IMAS would like to thank the City of McAllen and Mobile Crane Service Inc. for their support with the arrival of this windmill blade.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you very soon.
