Time Warner Cable converts KHGN TV-17 to digital signal

Time Warner customers having issues viewing KHGN TV-17 can try channel 135.17 for viewing Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District’s television station.

Customers with a digital cable box should still be able to view KHGN on channel 17.

Anyone still experiencing complications in viewing KHGN should contact Time Warner Cable at (866) 203-9163.

As part of its effort to convert Public, Education and Government Access Channels (PEGS) to a digital signal, Time Warner Cable began broadcasting KHGN TV-17 digitally on Friday.

Time Warner customers with digital cable boxes will be able to watch KHGN on its normal channel, 17. However, viewers with QAM tuners built into their televisions or viewers with CableCARD (UDCP) will need to tune into channel 135.17 to view KHGN programs.

Televisions manufactured after 2008 usually have the tuner built in. Anyone with a digital cable box currently will not be affected by the change.

Time Warner is offering its customers one free digital box for each account. Customers can visit the company’s Harlingen office, 2921 South Expressway 83, to pick up their free box. Customer service representatives are available for installation assistance at (800) 222-5355.

As part of an effort to better serve our community, the KHGN staff and other HCISD departments have been seeking ways to broaden our audience. Parents, students, teachers, staff and community members can expect more programming available online in the forthcoming months.
