DPS Offers Increased Reward, Seeks Leads in 1982 Travis County Murder

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for the public’s help in solving the 1982 murder of Ruth Elizabeth Bettis, and an increased reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible if the tip is received before next month’s featured case is announced. (A $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest is routinely offered on all cases on the Texas Rangers’ Unsolved Homicides website.)

Reward Increased to $8,000 for Most Wanted Sex Offender

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding the public that the reward for Manuel Muniz, 47, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender and this month’s featured fugitive, has been increased to $8,000 for information leading to his capture if the tip comes in during the month of October. Muniz is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements and parole violation. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Wife of Former Mexican Official Convicted in Bank Fraud Conspiracy

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The wife of the former Tabasco, Mexico, Secretary of Finance has been found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Abe Martinez. A federal jury in Corpus Christi returned its verdict late Friday against Silvia Beatriz Perez-Ceballos, 49, of Sugar Land, following 10 days of trial and approximately five hours of deliberation.

Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, Murder Suspect Arrested in New York

AUSTIN – Reginald “Reggie” Vernard Campbell, 24, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, is now in custody after being captured Friday morning in Mt. Vernon, New York. Campbell was wanted for capital murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. The arrest was the result of a tip, and a reward of up to $5,000 will be paid.
