Special message to the Harlingen School Board and the city ofHarlingen

The situation at the new Memorial Middle School is getting worse, before it gets any better. This was very poor planned school. The Rio Hondo Road was reduced from a 2 lane to a 3 lane road for protected left turns into the school. The bike lane was eliminated leaving pedestrians unprotected. There is no side walk from the school to the road. After today’s heavy rain shower we were forced to walk on the narrow drive way along with all the heavy traffic.

A 31 year old man charged for driving while intoxicated after driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to stop and finally stopping at a bar; A tattooed San Benito woman was charged for theft after stealing a wallet from EZ Pawn with $525 dollars, she returned the wallet to the owner at his home with the money missing and said she had found it, surveillance video showed her taking the wallet.

AUSTIN– The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Rickey Lynn Johnson, 31, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list, and a $7,500 cash reward is now offered for information leading to his capture. All tips can be offered anonymously.

CBP to Stand up Emergency Operations Center

EDINBURG, Texas ─ Customs and Border Protection’s Incident Command for Region VI will host a media availability to stand up its Emergency Operations Center at the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector Headquarters at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29. The event will address CBP’s efforts to ensure continuity of operations in areas affected by Hurricane Isaac.

A divided Harlingen police department

The Harlingenpolice department is: 70% Hispanic. 30% Anglo. When Hispanic police officers make mistakes, they get persecuted. When Anglo cops make mistakes, they get away with it. There is lots of turmoil in the ranks.

Harlingen police officer Miguel (Mike) Garcia retired after 30 years on the force

He was one of the city’s biggest drunks.  One of his episodes involved drinking beer in a patrol unit.  Slowly but surely some of these rogue cops are leaving.  Good riddance.
