Kirby Dendy Named Chief of the Texas Rangers

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas Public Safety Commission has announced the appointment of Kirby Dendy as assistant director/chief in charge of the Texas Rangers effective September 1, 2012. Dendy had served as second in command of the Texas Rangers since 2011. His promotion follows the retirement of Ranger Chief Hank Whitman.

Brownsville bar shooting results in male and female hospitalized

On Thursday, August 16, 2012, at approx. 2:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Expressway 77 (Toucan Lounge) in reference to a subject who had been shot. Officers arrived and found a male and female with gunshot wounds.
