The Church of Thyatira IV

Jesus addressed this church because of the problems that existed therein. What had actually caused the problems within that church was that they had allowed a woman, symbolically called Jezebel, to teach. Because of their failure to heed to the words of Paul in 1 Timothy 2:11-14, the woman that they perhaps thought when they first met her and began to allow her to teach, took them into false doctrine little by little, that they did not even feel it. And soon enough they were praying to and worshipping idols, which in actuality is worshipping a false god. This in itself is called spiritual fornication. But even physical fornication could be in view here since much of the worship of idols back then consisted of sexual orgies.
