CONGRESSMAN CUELLAR ANNOUNCES $2.1 MILLION TO ENHANCE HIDALGO BORDER SECURITY

Hidalgo, TX—Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Hidalgo County $2,100,000 under Operation Stonegarden, an initiative to fund the enhancement of localized law enforcement border security operations. The funds will be used to support equipment, fuel and operational and maintenance costs toward the goal of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Hidalgo County Sherriff’s Office and eighteen local entities and law enforcement agencies.

A 25 year old cross dresser man arrested for second offense of prostitution and resisting arrest; A 22 year old man arrested and charged for assault/family violence and felony criminal mischief; A 41 year old man arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; A 35 year old man arrested and charged for felony driving while intoxicated, third offense; A 20 year old man arrested and charged for assault/family violence and retaliation; A 39 year old La Feria man arrested and charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A 25 year old Brownsville man arrested and charged for aggravated sexual assault of child

On 6/22/12 officers responded to the 700 block of S. Central Ave in reference to a past sexual assault. Officers contacted the complainant who advised that the victim (child 14yrs & younger) had made an outcry to her about an incident that occurred on 6/15/12 on the 1800 block of Victoria Ln.
