Two Area Men Sentenced for Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking

McALLEN, Texas – Lauro Arturo Treviño Sr. and Roberto Lee Coronado have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a large scale drug trafficking organization operating out of Starr County, Texas, United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced today. The men were convicted Feb. 6, 2012, after pleading guilty.

Harlingen police department news briefs 5-18-12

An 18 year old Harlingen High School South student arrested and charged for possession of a controlled substance in drug free zone; A 22 year old man being sought for theft of a building, several others arrested; A 39 year old San Benito man arrested and charged for the manufacture and possession of a controlled substance / 2.2 pounds of cocaine; A 49 year old man arrested and charged for possession of a controlled substance; A 23 myear old man arrested and charged for sexual assault of an 18 year old female; A 24 year old San Benito man was arrested and charged for felony theft of a female $4,200 engagement ring; A 32 year old woman arrested and charged for possession of marihuana and tempering with the physical evidence; A 37 year old man was arrested and charged for felony possession of 1.2 pounds of marihuana; 2 men one from San Benito and one from Harlingen arrested and charged for unlawful carrying a weapon, possession of marihuana and public intoxication. The city of Harlingen just hired a second city manager. We need a second city manager just like we need a hole in the head. I called the much larger cities Brownsville and McAllen for comparison.
