Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-Laredo) announced that many Texans will soon be seeing a check in the mail from their health insurance company thanks to the medical loss ratio provision of the Affordable Care Act. Under the provision’s “80/20 rule,” health insurance companies are required to spend at least 80 cents of every dollar they receive in premiums on health care or activities that improve health care quality, rather than on administrative costs. If insurance companies fail to meet this standard, the Affordable Care Act requires the companies to pay their customers a rebate.

Fallen Texas Peace Officers Remembered Today

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety today honored eight Texas law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during the past year. The lives of these officers, including DPS Highway Patrol Trooper Javier Arana Jr., who was killed in a two-car collision in El Paso March 24, were recognized at the DPS Peace Officer Memorial Service in Austin.

“The McAllen Police Department will have Police Officers out in full force during the period of May 21, 2012 and concluding on June 3, 2012 enforcing laws that are in effect to protect all of us.
