Gov. Rick Perry today credited Texas’ growing economy to a business friendly climate that attracts new businesses and jobs. The governor spoke at a press conference announcing the new San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC) office.

How in the Hell can I increase growth in this city with all the red tape B.S. that I and previous entrepreneurs have to wade through. I understand codes and regulations but come on. Everyone knows how hard it has been for small businesses here in Harlingen to get started or keep going for years.

(LAREDO, Texas) – After two days of trial and approximately two hours of deliberation, a federal jury has convicted Albert Addison Bush, of conspiring to and possessing with intent to distribute more than 4000 pounds of marijuana, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today.

(Washington, D.C.)–U.S. Representative Solomon P. Ortiz (D-Texas) voted Tuesday night to provide funding for troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At a recent Lower Rio Grande Development Board meeting, Chief Castillo was voted off the board as representative from Harlingen. According to the rules of LRGDB 3 absences means the board can vote off the individual. Castillo rarely attends and easily met the 3 absences rule.

U.S. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today to update the Members of Congress of the flooding in Deep South Texas and to thank them for providing Federal resources to improve infrastructure along the border. Congressman Hinojosa demonstrated through aerial photographs, offered by Hidalgo County, the areas where levees have held back the Rio Grande River thereby protecting cities from flooding. He also showed in comparison, flooded areas where no levees existed, adding that more work is needed.

Harlingen has been in the doldrums for decades. Growing at a snail’s pace for years, residents wonder what is it that we have to do to grow? Throughout the years Harlingen has enlisted help from economic experts, The Harlingen Chamber of Commerce, EDC, CVB, you name it, Harlingen has tried it.

The problem is creating a shortage of man power and too much stress for other cops on duty. 
It is unknown if the acute absenteeism is in retaliation for the working conditions at HPD. 
The chief of police Danny Castillo is never there to lead his forces. 
Regardless there is a big problem at HPD that needs fixing [...]

This time the police officer was fired for doing her job. This is the third police officer fired in 3 months. The officer was fired by the airport manager Michael Browning.

Those of us that depend on the internet cannot operate when it goes down. In my case the phone went down due to a mix up in phone lines. In my case the DSL is dependent on the phone line.

HARLINGEN, Texas – At least one city leader here is still looking for answers surrounding the curious law enforcement case involving one Carlos Levon Anderson, a 39-year-old karate instructor who was free for days after being indicted on allegations that he had molested a handful of minors.

The Texas Department of Transportation Pharr District (TxDOT) and City of Harlingen will hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed Stuart Place Road project in Cameron County. The hearing is schedule for Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Stuart Place Elementary located at 6701 W. Business 83 in Harlingen, Texas 78552. The hearing will begin with an Exhibit Viewing Period from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm and a formal presentation will follow at 6:00 pm. This hearing will allow the public the opportunity to view the project details and provide comments.
