EDINBURG, Texas— The Edinburg Roadrunners of the United League announced today that they will be hosting a co-ed baseball clinic for ages 5 through 13 on Saturday, August 7, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. prior to their scheduled game against the Amarillo Dillas.

Laredo – Monday’s United League Baseball game between the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and the Laredo Broncos has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions following rain earlier in the day at Veterans Field.

Cameron County – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin construction on the new SH 550 tolled project on Monday, July 26, 2010. The $34.1 million tolled highway project will be constructed on new location from just north of FM 3248 to SH 48 in Brownsville. The project planning and development was a cooperative effort between TxDOT and the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority (CCRMA).

News has come down that one of the top seven finalists for the position of new City Manager for Harlingen has withdrawn his name from consideration. Over 40 people applied for the open position of Harlingen City Manager over a long drawn out 7 month application process.

(McALLEN, Texas) – Local Physician Assistant Manuel Anthony Puig, 44, has plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the Texas Medicaid program, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced today. Manuel Puig, doing business as Puig Medical Services, operated La Hacienda Family Clinic, near Alton, Texas.

Harlingen, Texas, July 26, 2010: In recent days two invitations have arrived. One is to attend an International Beer Festival on August 5th. The second is to join in the events of “La Pachanga” at a local park. In South Texas a “Pachanga” always translates to a party. These events become more and more frequent during the “silly season”, better known as the three months leading up to a major election. Although the Edinburg Roadrunners have cooled down a bit, they continue to be the number one club in the United League Baseball, a spot they have held since the beginning of the season.
