We don’t know if you caught last week’s article about tourism numbers down in Harlingen. The State Comptroller reported Harlingen suffered a $500,000 loss. Nydia Gonzalez, the director of CVB said she wasn’t happy. Our Mayor was silent on the issue. No one is talking about how the city plans to make up a $260,500 shortfall…(the city receives a portion of revenues collected by CVB, last year CVB collected $875,000 of which $618,500 went to CVB for their budget, and $260,500 went to the city).

ALICE – A Jim Wells County grand jury returned two true bills of indictment on Tuesday against Corpus Christi attorney Benito Garza, 48, and case runner Timothy Trevino aka “Sugar Bear”, 45. Tuesday’s indictment charges both defendants with one charge of barratry and solicitation of professional employment.
