The setting aside this day in remembrance of those living and dead deserve recognition for their selfless dedication is a good step in the right direction. After all we did fight on behalf on this Nation. Irregardless of the politics, 58,000 plus paid the ultimate sacrifice and over 300,000 were wounded and over 3,000,000 served. Many were captured and the true number of P.O.W.s has never been made public. It is for these persons that this day has been set aside. True it’s a little late, but at least someone remembers.

Census Bureau Selects Lark Community Center As Questionnaire Assistance Center

The Census Bureau has selected McAllen’s Lark Community Center (2601 Lark Avenue) as a Questionnaire Assistance Center (QAC), from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, through April 1st. Census workers will be on hand to help anyone who may not understand questions on the Census form. Additional QAC’s will be opened as Census staff is available.

SAN JUAN MAN SENTENCED FOR LYING AND BUYING 18 FIREARMS

(McALLEN, Texas) – Bernardo Garza, 44, of San Juan, Texas, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for lying to buy firearms, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno announced today. Chief United States District Judge Ricardo H. Hinojosa handed down the prison term at a hearing today. The prison term is to be followed by a two-year-term of supervised release.

HOUSTON PHYSICIAN CHARGED IN MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR SCHEME TO DEFRAUD MEDICARE

(HOUSTON) – The continuing investigation into allegations of health care fraud by persons associated with City Nursing Services of Texas Inc. has yielded a 55-count, second superseding indictment, charging Dr. Christina Clardy, a 61-year-old Houston physician, and one as yet unnamed individual with conspiracy to commit health care fraud, health care fraud and mail fraud, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard C. Powers announced today. The second superseding indictment adds four additional structuring financial counts against defendant Kenneth Anokam, 54, a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who was named in the previous indictment and who has been in federal custody without bond since Oct. 26, 2009.
